Please skip this post full of anger and triggers. Updated: a video from famous beauty bloggers “Why do we hate tattooing?” has been added below. (including microblading), which lists all the reasons that I have in the article.
In my feed, advertisements for courses on eyebrow microblading (this is a special tattoo technique when permanent pigment is introduced into the skin not with a needle, but with something like a scalpel or blade, the “hair technique”, which is faster in terms of procedure time and, as it were, "looks more natural") But I never thought that the process of learning microblading looks so hellish, and the consequences raise a lot of natural questions and bewilderment.
Photo from the VKontakte group advertising microblading courses
What's wrong in the photo?
1. Microblading, just like tattooing, is an invasive procedure that involves damage to the skin. It should be carried out, if not in absolutely sterile conditions (ideally), then at least somehow close to them. Well, for example, something like a dressing room or treatment room. After all, microblading is essentially skin incisions into which paint is injected.
Well, yes, maybe in the photo they are just drawing the shape of future eyebrows? But how can you beat a tattoo according to the drawing if the face is not processed?
2. The patient in the photo is sitting on a chair without a headrest during the procedure. I can say the following: I personally have a full hand, I paint eyebrows with brushes, and then I always put clients on the couch (with the exception of late-term pregnant women, for whom it is difficult to lie down), pin up their hair and fix their heads. This is how you can do the highest quality work, which sometimes resembles jewelry - the paint I work with quickly sets on the skin, and it is almost impossible to wipe it off after a minute. This applies even more to biotattooing - eyebrow dye with henna. Therefore, I physically don’t understand how you can not just paint eyebrows, but do a tattoo “on weight”, when the client’s head dangles without support or fixation, like a float in an ice hole?
3. Well, a continuation of point number 1: The client sits in makeup, cleansing and antiseptic treatment of her face and does not smell.
PS I’ll add point No. 4, it’s malicious. Judging by the glasses on the “microblading teacher,” she has farsightedness, that is, poor near vision . Getting a tattoo (or even just eyebrow correction) under a magnifying glass (or under magnifying glasses, like hers) is categorically not recommended. Because you can see it well under magnification, but the sense of reality and scale is completely lost, you can screw it up... By the way, the woman in the photo does not have local lighting. Which is also very presumptuous, especially considering his eyesight.
The truth about microblading
Well, so as not to get up from the couch twice: the truth about microblading. Ideally, it lasts for a year . And ideally, it still requires correction , better than two. What happens to the eyebrows by the end of the year, and how the pigment leaves the skin is a mystery that you can only experience for yourself)) I won’t tell you, let it be a surprise)) Sunbathing, visiting a solarium, or a bathhouse is not allowed .
Some sources write that there is a high risk that the pigment will not go away, and the client will be left with gray-blue eyebrows forever. Plus, I quote:
“There is an official disclaimer that such changes (colors to gray-blue) are possible only if the technique is incorrect, or if the client has a pronounced oily skin type. As it turned out later, the pigment can change its color even with mixed skin, which 80% of women have, and this radically changes the picture and increases the likelihood of negative consequences many times over! There is another important nuance - when working with blades, the thickness of the skin plays a very important role. Since Asian women (where this technique came from) have skin two or even three times thicker than European women, in this case the risk of an unsuccessful procedure increases accordingly. In our opinion, this technique is not suitable for the vast majority of women living in northern countries - 90% of “microblading” is simply contraindicated.
Microblading has a lot of contraindications - for example, a tendency to keloid scars, autoimmune and allergic diseases... Tattooing on oily and problematic skin can generally become painful in a couple of weeks. But who asks clients about this? Who collects anamnesis and conducts explanatory conversations? Microblading masters do not necessarily have any medical education.
Eyebrows are bald after tattooing. Swelling, inflammation, crusts. In this photo there is severe swelling of the eyelids (normally this should not be the case).
Oh yes, and like any permanent tattoo on the face, microblading is also very noticeable . At least in the hair technique, at least in some kind. And men (if this is important to you) are very afraid of “women with painted eyebrows.” At best, if it is a family member, they tolerate it and get used to it. I have never met a man who believed that conspicuously drawn eyebrows adorn their owners. And believe me, that they notice it! Even simple paint on the eyebrows is noticed if a woman or girl has not painted her eyebrows before. What can we say about tattoos...
Women read false eyebrows even better. Personally, I can even tell from a photo whether a woman’s eyebrows are natural or artificially “drawn on.” Another nuance is that with eyebrow tattooing, many women try to “correct the shape of their eyebrows” - to complete what is missing, to “raise their eyelids” and so on. Most often, the result of these “corrections” is terrible and the new eyebrows are even more striking as something unnatural.
Now imagine what the person you live or meet with sees from a distance of 10 centimeters from your face...
The uglier the eyebrows, the more likes on Instagram))
Long-term consequences of eyebrow microblading
And finally: about perspective. Even in the ideal case, once your eyebrow microblading lasts a year, what's next? After all, the paint, even in theory, will blur. AND NOTHING. Because “doing microblading on microblading” is not recommended even in theory - the skin already has microscars , and no one knows how a new layer of paint on top of these scars will behave.
The second negative consequence that I personally encountered in the example of my clients who come for eyebrow correction and tinting: during tattooing/microblading, some of the hair follicles are injured (micro-scars form in these places). Damage often leads to the fact that hairs stop growing . This is not very noticeable if the eyebrows are “drawn” well and the pigment holds well. But when he starts to leave, we see an eyebrow with receding hairlines and bald spots.
What to do?
Therefore, my good advice to you: don’t worry, and buy an eyebrow pencil. Gel for eyebrows. Eyebrow shadows. Anything for eyebrows. Or come to me at least once a month for correction and coloring. Save a lot of time, money, health and nerve cells.
My opinion: eyebrow tattooing is for those who have no eyebrows at all, or almost none. All other desires are from the evil one.
How much does it cost to learn microblading?
For those interested, the best thing is: the cost of a 2-day training course in a basic eyebrow microblading course is about 40 thousand rubles. There is also “advanced training” on this topic, training in various fashionable techniques that are steadily appearing on the market, this plus another 25 thousand rubles. Not bad, right? (Addition: at the beginning of 2017, the average training course for this barbarity is about 50-150 thousand rubles, despite the fact that the technical development of skills and the “hand placement” of each individual student is still the weakest part of such “courses.” That is, a student who, in a couple of days or weeks, received a certificate in eyebrow microblading, oh, that is, excuse me, a “diploma” (in fact, no one will issue these eyebrow gurus a legal license to teach microblading - and if I’m wrong, just ask for this document your teacher has a license), it turns out more or less theoretically informed, but, unfortunately, completely without experience.)
Actually, the cost of courses is a terrible secret. In the Vkontakte group, where the photo above was taken from, you will not find any numbers. But you will find a hundred questions from those suffering: “How much does the course cost?” By some simple googling we find the price list.
Cost of eyebrow microblading training
This is much more expensive than narrow training courses for doctors and cosmetologists with secondary medical education. education. And judging by the fact that the authors do not advertise prices and a training license, they do not have this very license to train (and issue official certificates).
Another victim of “training” who spent 100 thousand rubles. for “training” in microblading...
Latest post in the VK group “Brow-sekta”: March 2021
Is it any wonder that then these “trained” people will want to return the invested funds at the expense of their clients... Here is the answer to the question why these wild methods of “beauty” are still somehow popular.
P.S:
Since I was attacked on the Internet by offended adherents of the school of microblading, to which there was a link above (for the sake of example only), I will add:
- I am not the press, and not TV, not Elena Malysheva, and not Andrei Malakhov, I write exclusively a personal opinion and personal view on the information - textual and visual - that is presented in the public domain. Actually, anyone who knows how to put letters into words can do this. - This is my website. If you don't want it, don't read it. “I don’t have to be “kind” or “kind” to any of those who criticize. I write what I want. If you want to write your opinion, start your own blog and pour out everything you can there. — There’s no need to shake plaques and flies either — “Show me your license!!!” I have a suitcase of documents. Which one do you want specifically? ))) All my documents are available in my office in person. And who's asking? An anonymous internet troll with a fake account? Yes, right now, I’m running, my hair is back... I don’t teach in principle, but you do it on an industrial scale for money. Say thank you for the free “PR”, because as you know, “everything is PR that is not an obituary”))

Care on the first day
Immediately upon returning home, you should do the following:
- wash your face with baby soap;
- blot with a soft, clean cloth;
- After the moisture has dried on the eyebrows, apply Vaseline (repeat 3 to 5 times a day).
On the first day after microblading, eyebrows are distinguished by a bright shade and a clearly defined contour. Moreover, the shades may seem too dark, even contrasting. This should not be a cause for concern because it is evidence of the distribution of pigment in the subcutaneous layer. In addition, the master deliberately introduces a pigment a couple of tones darker and brighter, because part of it comes out in the first days along with the red ichor.
After a few hours, pain, swelling, and redness in the area around the eyebrows may appear. For this purpose, you cannot use anesthetic ointments, only tablets with an anesthetic effect recommended by the specialist.
Now you need to actively apply Bepanten to the skin and periodically wipe the affected area with antiseptics. Wetting or dyeing hair with decorative cosmetics is strictly prohibited.

“Why do we hate tattooing?”
On May 15, 2017, a video was released from famous beauty bloggers - Koffkathecat and Mark Kaufman , which lists all the reasons that I have in the article. So don’t believe me, a professional cosmetologist, listen to the leading professional makeup artist bloggers. Those who not only run YouTube channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, keep their finger on the pulse of world trends, but also have a huge field of work offline and earn as much as you never dreamed of. Video 18+ (some words slip through, but you can’t throw them out, like words from a song)))
Care after correction
How long eyebrows will heal after microblading depends on many factors. If corrective measures are necessary, all care recommendations are returned.
You should definitely apply sunscreen to your skin to protect your skin; in winter, wear a hat to minimally cover your brow ridges from exposure to cold air.
The first correction is very important; it allows the master to evaluate the result obtained and make changes to it if the need arises.
After corrective measures, the surface of the eyebrows is not completely damaged, but partially, so the healing process is much faster than the first time.
Microblading is a low-impact way to make changes to your appearance. It has undoubted advantages:
- saving time spent on daily creating the ideal shape and shade of eyebrows;
- obtaining long-term results;
- minimum pain;
- obtaining a natural result by manually drawing the smallest strokes;
- introduction of pigment into the upper layers of the epidermis, which does not spoil the condition of the skin.
It is impossible not to note some disadvantages of this technique:
- the likelihood of individual intolerance to the coloring composition and the development of an allergic reaction;
- the possibility of a master error, which will lead to a negative result;
- high price;
- complexity of the technique, requiring sufficient experience of a cosmetologist.
Getting beautiful eyebrows with microblading is quite possible. Two fundamental factors are important here, the first is the experience and professionalism of the master who will do all the work. The second is the accuracy of the client’s compliance with his recommendations and her properly organized care for the affected area.
How to avoid a negative result?
If you are worried about your health and do not want to be among those who face negative consequences, then sign up for the procedure with a good specialist. It is best to study examples of work in advance to understand how competent a person is in this matter. Photos before and after can always be seen on the master’s website, moreover, a conversation on the phone with the master should make you come to him, because contact with each other is an important detail -)
At the Katty Hair beauty salon, eyebrow microblading is performed by Ekaterina Andreeva. Our master has 5 years of experience. The mass of satisfied clients indicates that studying abroad was not in vain.
If you sign up for a procedure with us, you won’t have to worry about any negative consequences. The master will advise you on all questions of interest, help you choose the shape and color of your eyebrows, and also tell you step by step about all your actions.

Who is the procedure indicated for?
The technique is ideal for:
- deprived of facial hair (due to genetic diseases, after chemotherapy, radiation, other diseases or aggressive types of treatment), coupled with eye tattooing, the procedure will restore the beauty of the face.
- in the presence of scars, scars, burns, after which vegetation does not grow in these areas.
- with a deficiency of natural hairs.
- with significant eyebrow asymmetry.
- people with naturally colorless facial hair.
And what in return?
Any permanent makeup will be contraindicated in the same cases as microblading. Therefore, you can try tinting your eyebrows with henna (bio-tattoo). But remember that with hormonal disturbances, henna will apply worse.
You should not dye your eyebrows even with natural dyes if your skin is damaged or there are rashes at the application site. If biotattooing doesn’t work out, you’ll have to go back to the good old contour pencil and shadows.
This is where I stop scaring you with contraindications. We would like to remind you that microblading is one of the most popular, interesting and safe permanent makeup techniques. Come see me again if you want to learn the intricacies of this procedure. And invite your friends through social networks.
Advantages and disadvantages
Let's consider the advantages and disadvantages of the procedure.
The advantages are:
- naturalness of eyebrows, they no longer look artificial, like with a tattoo.
- You can add richness to your look and forget about drawing the desired hairline.
- You can disguise scars, damage, cicatrices, provided that the pigment is taken.
- really restore beauty after hair loss due to illness or injury.
- your eyebrows will always be perfectly straight, beautifully curved, all you have to do is occasionally pluck unnecessary hairs.
- microneedles slightly damage the skin, which is why sometimes there is no inflammation; the recovery period is short (up to 5 days).
- no age restrictions.
- the color of the pigment is preserved by 90% after healing.
- quite long-lasting effect (up to 6 months - 2 years, on average a year).
- The master can control the speed of work, the depth of pigment penetration, the length, and thickness of the lines.
- speed of the procedure (1-2 hours, taking into account the preliminary calculation of the shape and thickness of the eyebrows).
There are practically no disadvantages when the manipulation is carried out correctly, except for the high price and temporary effect. According to the masters, the color does not change, but slowly fades until it disappears after 1-2 years. After this, the procedure will have to be repeated. Although this is not bad, perhaps during this time you will want to change the shape of your eyebrows?
Does microblading hurt?
Of course, every woman before the procedure wonders whether it hurts. Like any intervention, needle penetration brings discomfort, but special pain-relieving creams can make the process almost unnoticeable.
This is also facilitated by the small thickness and length of the needles. Microblading is definitely less painful than traditional tattooing.
