When something terrible happens, we first fall into a stupor, and then we look for the strength to move on. We are trying to find harmony with ourselves and set an example for others. At least that's how I act.

L.: But what does theater have to do with it?

E.K.: In the old days, they didn’t work in the theater, but served. And I feel the same way about it. But at the same time, the theater is a temple. And indeed, ideally, for the duration of the performance, the audience is immersed in another world, forgetting about their endless gadgets. In a couple of hours, everyone can take their mind off problems, think about important things and ask themselves some questions. I believe that it’s not in vain that I go on stage: it seems to me that this is not just income, but some kind of mission, at least we should strive for this.

L.: But in addition, your work requires frequent absence from home. Do you easily separate from your children?

E.K.: Of course, it’s difficult, any mother, any normal parent will understand me. And when there are four children, like I have, it’s even harder. Formally, the scheme has long been established: parents, grandmothers, nannies.

L.: Is it easy for you to leave them? Don't you miss it?

E.K.: Of course, I miss you. And they too. But I can’t and won’t take them with me. I think that having children on set or behind the scenes is an aggravating circumstance. They should have their own life with lessons, quiet time, soup, and not dancing until dawn. Yes, you can be so trashy just once, however, at the closing ceremony you will appear not in a red dress, but with wet hair, lathered up. Because five minutes before that, the kids will cut their fingers, their stomachs will hurt, or something else will happen.

L.: Do you get the feeling that you are not giving them enough?

E.K.: It happens. You want me to say now: everything is simple. But that's not true. I wouldn’t advise anyone to live like me, it’s very difficult - both emotionally and physically. It's even unnatural. I miss roles because of children, children because of roles, but this is my choice. Sea captains go to sea for six months, so why shouldn’t they have children now? Should astronauts take a vow of celibacy? It seems that the mother of four children has nothing in life except them. Would you say that this is not so? But it is so. Of course it is.

E.K.: Yes! Strong, confident and beautiful.

L.: Do you somehow imagine a time when the children will grow up and there will be much less work?
