From this article you will learn:
- What types of female lips exist?
- How to paint lips of different shapes to correct them
In the field of beauty, one trend gives way to another, sometimes bringing to the forefront overly exaggerated shapes, such as “duck lips”. Fortunately, the fashion for naturalness has again gained a strong position. We will tell you in this article what lip shapes exist for women and how to correct them in order to be trendy and look attractive.
What does the shape of women's lips indicate?
No matter what their lips were - full, medium or thin - girls always tried to give them volume. First, natural dyes and menthol were used (irritating the skin and leading to swelling), then lipstick, gloss, injections and plastic surgery. Women are ready to do anything to attract the attention of men with voluminous lips. Doctors at a plastic clinic in California have determined that to achieve an ideal lip shape in women, the lower half must be exactly twice as large as the upper. This formula is followed by most American specialists.
The curve of the upper lip, called the “Cupid's bow,” determines the impression a woman will have on a man. Representatives of the stronger half of humanity consider a smooth line with a not pronounced cleavage attractive.
Physiognomy specialists, who determine a person’s character, habits and health status based on facial features, consider lips as one of the main objects for study.
By a person's facial expressions, you can accurately determine what feelings he is experiencing: joy, sadness or annoyance. Lip shapes and a woman’s character are interconnected:
- Full,
regularly shaped lips have been valued as an indicator of increased sensuality and attractiveness in all ages.
If you remember the most beautiful women of past eras and the present - Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie, Kim Basinger - they all have plump lips. This feature personifies their feminine nature and excites the male imagination. Those with voluminous lips love life and strive to take the best they can from it. “Everything at once” is the motto of their actions and decisions. Yes, sometimes it’s not easy with them when their whims attract everyone’s attention. At the same time, women with full lips know their worth, control their emotions, and are characterized by determination and willpower. Due to a certain frivolity and desire for pleasure, they can go to achieve their goal by any means; their prudence is adjacent to self-irony. Such women are not deprived of the attention of men, but flirtatiousness does not prevent them from becoming excellent mothers and wives.
- Thin lips.
Popular wisdom says that people with thin lips are not kind.
Of course, this stereotype cannot be believed. The thin shape of the lips speaks more of modesty and restraint, which do not exclude positive character traits. Such women are distinguished by determination, integrity and the ability to achieve great heights thanks to their intelligence and oratorical abilities. It is always interesting to talk with those with thin lips, as they read a lot, go to exhibitions and know how to listen carefully to their interlocutor. Thanks to their insight, sometimes they learn about something important, but they do not share the information with everyone, but keep it to themselves. Women with thin lips know how to keep secrets and other people's experiences, but they are unlikely to share their thoughts. Their isolation and desire to be alone with themselves do not allow them to tell the whole world about themselves.
- Middle lips.
This form suggests that a woman has such qualities as lightness and spontaneity.
It’s easy to communicate with her, and a man who decides to start a family with her will receive a strong and tender relationship. The owner of an average lip shape becomes an excellent friend, a faithful wife, a reliable assistant and adviser. She sometimes seems ideal to the people around her, although this may be true. Her naturalness attracts men, they follow her on her heels as if they were the most attractive delicacy.
Thin lips are a men's character. Thin lips - what is the meaning, according to physiognomy?
Lips are a special area on the face. They are the ones who participate in conversation, food, kisses. It is believed that their shape and size can say a lot not only about a person’s character, but also about his sensuality. How thin lips characterize their owners:
- If thin lips are accompanied by a small mouth, then, most likely, in front of you is a person who is slightly insecure and tense. He will feel uncomfortable in the company of unfamiliar people and is unlikely to have the courage to propose his own ideas at a business meeting. He is very concerned about how people around him perceive him.
- People who are meticulous, pedantic, attentive to detail, but often deliberately provoke conflicts, often have thin lips of medium length.
- Long lips are the companions of people who have a talent for public speaking and other areas of creativity. They also often have a passionate temperament, but try to restrain themselves so as not to cause the disapproval of others.
- If the upper lip hangs slightly over the lower lip, then this may be a sign of timidity and shyness.
- If only the upper lip is thin, and the lower one is quite plump, then this is often a sign of people who are in an eternal search for love. They are gentle, reverent and faithful partners who know how to throw firewood into the fire of passion at the right time.
- A thin lower lip with a plump upper lip may indicate that this is a slightly childish person who needs care and protection. Men with this sign often choose as wives women who are much older than themselves and who resemble their mothers in character. And women are looking for a rich patron who is older, so that they don’t have to deal with life’s difficulties.
Features of lip shape in women
It’s surprising that women’s lips can be considered not only as a single whole, but also as two halves separately. The size of the upper and lower parts, their ratio, and the difference in volume speak about the character traits. Each characteristic plays an important role in creating an idea of a person.
- The upper half of the lips is larger than the lower.
Girls with a fuller upper lip willingly make contact with strangers, flirt, and are confident in their attractiveness. They see through those around them, but are in no hurry to open their thoughts and feelings.
Yes, such women are characterized by touchiness and narcissism, frivolity and a constant search for new emotions. Therefore, the man next to you needs to be patient and not show excessive jealousy. Bright appearance and sociability provide frequent reasons for compliments from members of the opposite sex.
- The lower lip is fuller than the upper.
Unusually active and active individuals who cannot sit in boring and monotonous work. Such shapes of girls' lips indicate their openness to everything new and exciting - travel, people, impressions. They know how to truly have fun and charge those around them with their energy. Their sociability and curiosity attract people who are happy to follow them to new horizons.
- The lips are fuller in the middle.
If you pay attention to the shape of women's lips, photos of many actresses confirm that a fuller center of the lips distinguishes creative people. They love being in the thick of things and being surrounded by people. Lonely everyday life is definitely not about them. A more accurate definition for the character of such women is the soul of the company.
Relationships with the opposite sex are not easy, as natural-born actresses sometimes overdramatize. Yet they choose thrills and unusual entertainment to try all the possibilities life has to offer.
- Lips with raised corners.
It seems that women with similar lip shapes are constantly smiling. Such a face cannot but evoke positive emotions and sympathy. Girls with lips like these seem to personify joy, optimism, kindness and friendliness.
Thanks to their attractive appearance, they attract others, including fans. To protect themselves from the annoying attention of representatives of the stronger sex, girls have to choose a cold tone of communication, which is usually not typical for them. True, this method does not always work, and gentlemen continue to seek their favor.
It is simply impossible not to notice and admire women with lips shaped like a permanent smile. Men perceive their facial expressions as coquetry. The owners of such lips are definitely not deprived of love and attention.
The women themselves also make contact easily, know how to listen to their interlocutor and support any conversation.

- Lips with downturned corners.
The opposite type of lips in women, creating the impression of a closed and uncommunicative person. Men pay less attention to such girls. Therefore, owners of lip shapes with drooping corners of the mouth are often not particularly cheerful and dissatisfied with those around them.
When they meet their great love, they do not believe their happiness, constantly check the man, doubt his sincerity or, conversely, are too intrusive in the relationship and show excessive attention. In any case, men are uncomfortable with such extremes.
- The upper lip has a sharp hollow.
Girls with this lip shape are creative individuals to the core. They can become successful actresses or artists. They have an unimaginable memory for names and faces, so it is easy for them to communicate with old and new acquaintances, while learning all the latest news. Owners of this lip shape are characterized by sociability, the ability for self-realization, determination and success in all projects.
- The upper lip has a rounded hollow.
The connection between lip shape and character is obvious in this case, since women with roundness are characterized by kindness, sensitivity and compassion. They perceive any difficulty in their loved ones as their own and rush to help. These are the people who care about animals, the cleanliness of the environment and the future of the planet.
- The upper lip is without a hollow.
You can always rely on such women; deep responsibility will not allow them to let you down. “Let anything happen, but the request must certainly be fulfilled!” - this is how girls act who manage to do everything in the shortest possible time and do not take the word “impossible” seriously. Accurately and on time - this is definitely about them. Relatives trust such girls one hundred percent and know that they are the most reliable people in the world, capable of resolving any difficult situation.

Physiognomy - the lower lip is larger than the upper lip in women and men: what does this mean?
For men, large, large, well-defined lips indicate openness, self-confidence, and charisma. However, some features need to be taken into account.
Physiognomy - the lower lip is larger than the upper lip in women and men, what does this mean:
- If the lower lip is significantly larger in size than the upper lip, this indicates non-compliance, persistence, and obstinacy. Such a person will never give up the laurels of championship, and does not like to lose.
- That is why you need to be careful with such people and argue less often. Conflicts with them are a lost cause, since nothing will be achieved. A person will always prove his superiority and superiority over you.
- The same applies to women, but there are some subtleties. Representatives of the fair sex with lush lips are distinguished by sensuality and love experiments in bed. Therefore, if you are in doubt about whether you should meet a girl or not, you definitely need to flirt with her.

Indications for contour plastic surgery
First of all, contour plastic surgery is indicated for women with congenital or acquired defects in the mouth area. It often happens that with the help of professional cosmetics it is not possible to add the effect of lip augmentation; in this case, you can undergo a special procedure at a cosmetology center.
Filler injections are recommended to:
- give lips volume;
- eliminate small wrinkles near the mouth;
- change the contour and shape of the lips;
- raise the outer corners of the mouth;
- eliminate postoperative or post-traumatic defects of the perioral area;
- to save a woman from psychological discomfort if she is dissatisfied with the appearance and shape of her lips.
Sometimes doctors recommend mouth contouring for women who have had their nose, eyes, or other parts of the face corrected in order to give their appearance a “finished” harmonious look.

What woman doesn't dream of becoming more beautiful? If nature has deprived you of beauty, then ladies try to make up for it with the help of makeup or, for example, fashionable clothes... And what is “beautiful” in a man’s understanding?
Basically, everything that is feminine is beautiful. When courting, representatives of the stronger sex subconsciously see a child in a woman. So she should look as much like a baby as possible.
Baby usually has big eyes
, so the fair sex draws eyeliner to make them appear larger.
In young children the nose
, as a rule, is snub-nosed, and tiny at that, which is why it looks beautiful on a woman’s face, in contrast to a large nose, which often does not spoil men at all.
As for eyebrows
, then they, ideally, should be moderately thin, long, quite dark, arched in shape, and located high enough above the eyes. By the way, raised eyebrows purely visually make the eyes a little larger.
What does not adorn a woman's face is a high forehead
. This forehead is good for a man as it gives him the appearance of a thinker. Unfortunately, most “high-brow” girls don’t understand this. They should cover their foreheads with bangs, but they put their “foreheads” on display. Take, for example, actress Natalya Belokhvostikova. Optimal for women is, of course, a forehead of medium height. It is believed that the height of the forehead should approximately correspond to the “height” of the nose.
If a woman has large ears
, then you should cover them slightly with your hair, and not draw attention to them by wearing large ones.
Likewise, flashy or numerous rings attract negative attention to the fingers.
, if they are not in perfect shape. Beautiful, well-groomed hands with manicure are good even without rings. Manicure refines the shape of the nails, making them almond-shaped, while elongated nails visually lengthen the fingers, which makes them more beautiful.
Breast
is the quintessence of femininity. There is an opinion that representatives of the stronger sex in this matter are primarily concerned with size. This is not entirely true. In any beautiful creation, both man-made and natural, proportions are important. Even impressive size is unlikely to add attractiveness to a very plump woman. On the other hand, a very small bust looks good in combination with a toned figure and (no less important) correct posture, thanks to which the chest takes on an optimal position, reminiscent of a loosely stretched bow. As a result, the bust protrudes somewhat forward and appears larger, and most importantly, taller. The last factor is perhaps even more important.
As for heels, they visually lengthen your legs
, allow you to straighten the proportions of the body and achieve the ideal “golden ratio”. Its formula is simple: the ratio of the length of the entire body and the length of the legs should correspond to the ratio of their length to the size of the body. In addition, when walking in high heels, the calves of the legs are tense, which is why the legs themselves often look more attractive, because they take on a bottle-shaped shape. Due to the inclined position, the foot appears smaller, and in pumps, due to the narrow toe, even a size 40 foot looks like a leg.
the hair now
– one of the main natural decorations of the fair sex. Almost any girl has probably noticed that as soon as she lets her hair down (if it is long enough), men of different ages begin to intensively become acquainted with her. The main thing is not even that they like the “waterfall” of hair, although this is undoubtedly true. It’s just that the stronger sex considers loose hair almost as an invitation to get acquainted. A spectacular hairstyle attracts even more attention than beautiful legs.
The general principle of following women's fashion
(as, in fact, for men) should most likely be like this: if it suits your appearance. Not so long ago, a trend appeared to expose the belly along with the navel in the summer, which is often pierced for added effect. It's good if the girl has a thin waist. If she is of a rather dense build, you should think carefully about whether to follow this fashion... Well, if the lady has at least a small tummy, then such a “micro-striptease” produces a rather comical, and sometimes pathetic, impression...
Let's make a small digression. Just a couple of hundred years ago, the population in most European countries was fairly homogeneous in ethnic composition, with the exception of the border areas. So, for example, a Spaniard in most cases married a Spaniard. But a similar type of appearance usually does not generate significant attraction, like charges of the same name, which, according to physical laws, repel. A brunette is more likely to like a blonde than a brunette. Everyone knows how much people from the Caucasus are partial to Russian women... The same thing happens in the south of Europe, where every second, say, Italian would like to have, if not a wife, then certainly a mistress with blond hair...
If a man has plump lips, then he is more likely to like a girl with a slightly protruding chin. Even kissing will be more convenient for such a couple. Let's go further. Although a large nose, as already mentioned, does not make a girl look good, most likely a young man with a Mongoloid face type or who has a small (or flattened) nose will not “object” to it. But such a principle cannot be considered universal, otherwise, for example, all tall men would only like short girls.
The secret of perfect beauty lies in certain proportions of facial features. How close are you to the ideal of beauty? Let's try to find out!
American scientist Dr. Stephen Marquardt, who has spent 30 years studying the differences between beautiful (generally beautiful - models, actresses) and average female faces, knows a lot about the patterns of an ideal face.
We perceive a woman’s face as ideal and beautiful if all its features are located at a certain distance from each other, that is, they are subject to the rule of the “golden ratio”, which was developed by the thinkers of ancient Greece.
In numerical terms, it can be written as a ratio of numbers 1:1.618. This means, for example, that the ideal mouth should be 1.618 times wider than the nose, and each of the front first incisors should be 1.618 times wider than the adjacent (second) incisor, and so on.
Ideal face mask scheme
Markworth combined the ideally proportional features into a specific mask scheme.
Stefan Markworth identifies five types of faces:
- beautiful,
- attractive,
- average,
- unpretentious
- repulsive.
The photo shows the first three.
He also invented the smile mask to determine the perfect smile.
Experiment - face before and after
IN GENERAL, I AM SATISFIED WITH MY APPEARANCE
“I think I look good, although if I could change something, I would probably change my eyebrows... Because they are one higher than the other and because of this my face looks comical "
Stefan's opinion:
“She has beautiful eyes - they fit perfectly into the mask, but she's absolutely right about the eyebrows. I had to adjust one of them to fit the mask. In addition, I softened the outline of the lower jaw and narrowed the nose a little.”
People's opinions:
“The new lips don’t suit her. But the face overall looks prettier, I think.”
“She began to look better and somehow... younger. Yes! Younger than his years."
“These are two completely different faces! In the first photo, everything is proportional, but the lower part of the face doesn’t look very good - is there a double chin there?”
IT'S A SORRY THAT I HAVE A VERY WIDE NOSE
“Probably my eyes are my best feature. I don't like my nose - it's very wide. If I decided to have plastic surgery, this is what I would change.”
Stefan's opinion:
“She has beautiful cheeks, but I had to correct her lower jaw: I made it smaller. I widened my close-set eyes so that they fit more accurately into the boundaries of the mask. The tip of the nose had to be narrowed a little, and the upper lip had to be made fuller.”
People's opinions:
“She suits her new oval face and almond-shaped eyes. I like the second option, it’s very attractive.”
“Yes, of course, she has become better than she was!”
“In the first photo there is a living woman, and in the second she looks like a doll.”
I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE PLUM LIPS
“They always told me that I have large and expressive eyes - that’s why they suit me. But I would add volume to my lips. And you know, I was once seriously worried about my nose; it seemed to me that it was very big.”
Stefan's opinion:
“She looks adorable, but I did change a few things. I made my lips plumper and raised their corners - in my opinion, it turned out more attractive. I corrected the shape of the chin and made the cheekbones a little wider - as a result, the contour of the face became more defined.”
People's opinions:
“I am more interested in the first option. The second face, although it looks better, does not look like Carrie at all. Just a different person."
“The girl began to look older, which is not very good, and her eyes became less expressive. The first photo is better."
“Really, the second option is better. The cheekbones are more graceful, and the face has become more friendly, because the corners of the lips have been raised.”
I HAVE ONE EYE BIGGER THAN THE OTHER - I DON'T LIKE IT
“I really wish my eyes were bigger. The longer I look at them in the mirror, the more convinced I am that they really are different sizes.”
Stefan's opinion:
This is an attractive woman, she has a good face shape that almost completely matches the mask. Still, I softened the contour of the lower jaw to make the oval of the face more streamlined. There were a few other small changes: I slightly enlarged my upper lip and eyes and narrowed my nose a little.”
People's opinions:
“Wow, how great they remade it! Everything has improved!”
“The eyes have become bigger, and the lips are now just super. In general, I like her more than all the girls - she has become a downright sultry beauty.”
“Although in the second photo the girl looks friendlier, I have a feeling that something wasn’t done to her: the oval of her face could probably be improved further.”
I LIKE MY PLUM LIPS
“I am very relaxed about my appearance. For example, I have no illusions about my eyes. They are too small to be considered beautiful, and I am sure that beautiful eyes are the main sign of a beautiful face.”
Stefan's opinion:
“One side of the face was wider than the other, so I evened them out. The lower lip was reduced, and the nose was made smoother and a little longer.”
People's opinions:
“The upper part of the face did not need to be changed, it seems to me. But the lips and cheekbones were corrected well.”
“In my opinion, after the changes the girl became masculine. She is much prettier in the before photo.”
“There was no need to change the lips. And the eyes became more expressive after the changes.”
After the treatment, all five girls became very similar: correct eyes, correct eyebrows, correct noses. If girls in life were so correct, we would all die of boredom, honestly!

You will need:
How to take a photo?
You need to take a photo from a certain angle.
For this:
Look straight into the lens; raise your palms strictly horizontal to the floor
So that the base of the index finger touches the opening of the auricle;
Tilt your chin until the photographer gives you a sign: the tips of your index fingers should be in line with the lower border of the iris;
Now relax your face and close your teeth so that they lightly touch each other (don’t squeeze!), your lips shouldn’t be tightly compressed either;
Without moving your head, lower your arms. You're ready to take photos. The print must be at least 13x18 cm.
How to apply the perfect face mask?
Draw a straight line on your photo
connecting the pupils, and another one, connecting the corners of the lips.
Draw a straight line from the line.
Do the same on your copy of the mask.
Enlarge (or reduce) your copy of the mask (a scanner or copier will be useful for this) to a size at which the vertical line in your photo will coincide with the same line on the mask.
Redraw the mask of the required size onto tracing paper, combine the images and compare carefully.

Dr. Stefan Markworth, after 30 years of studying female beauty, has created a universal formula for attractive facial features.
According to his theory, we see a face as beautiful if its features are located in accordance with the golden ratio - the ratio is 1:1.618. That is, the ideal mouth should be 1.618 times wider than the nose, the front teeth 1.618 times wider than the twos, etc.
The diagram looks like this:
For comparison, you need to take a photograph of the face clearly from the front, apply a mask and combine the images along the midline of the pupils and the midline of the mouth. The features, in accordance with the proposed ideal, should coincide with the lines of the mask. Anything that doesn't fit isn't in ideal proportions.
Let's check how the rule works on the faces of actresses and singers
Taylor Swift
According to Markworth, to achieve the Taylor ideal, you only need to slightly narrow your nose. Has this made her any more beautiful? In my opinion, not much.
J
e
nnifer Lawrence
Slightly narrow the nose, slightly raise the tails of the eyebrows and add width to the cheekbones. It turned out well and the individuality was preserved.
Kristen Stewart
Kristen needed to raise the tails of her eyebrows, reduce her chin and the overall width of her face, slightly narrow the wings of her nose (and, on the contrary, widen the back). Yes, in general the face has become more attractive - you want to look at it. But something was missing.
Keira Knightley
Kira's features fit perfectly into the mask, except for the width of her face and chin. We change... and we get a cute unknown girl. And the tiny nose and neat mouth even seem to look rougher. No, I like Kira better before the “idealization”.
Amber Rose
My beloved Amber Rose has a very correct face: her cheeks just need to be narrowed a little, her lips smaller and the tails of her eyebrows raised. Almost nothing has changed.
Marion Cotillard
It was necessary to narrow the nose, slightly change the angle of the eyebrows and reduce the lower jaw. It turned out to be a beauty. However, she was a beauty even before the changes.
If she wanted to match the ideal proportions of Markworth's mask, she would have to narrow the angles of her jaw and nose (bottom left, immediately looking like her sister Kendall). Instead, Kylie enlarged her lips (bottom right). Taste and color...
Our celebrities
Liza Boyarskaya
Narrow everything: cheeks, cheekbones, nose, mouth and eyes, which are widely spaced. She also turned out to be a beautiful girl. But again I can’t say that I like her more.
Renata Litvinova
It was necessary to narrow the rather heavy and not entirely symmetrical lower jaw, the tip of the nose, and spread the close-set eyes wider. I don’t even know, it seems like something has improved, but Renata herself is so interesting that I don’t want to make her fit the standards.
Ksenia Sobchak
The lower jaw, of course, had to be reduced... but I don’t like the result at all. Simple and uninteresting. True, the original photo is not very good.
Maria Sharapova
Quite classic features with the exception of the width of the face and the asymmetry of the eyes and eyebrows. We narrow it down, level it out - and it turns out well. Although the mouth looks unusually large.
Here are the perfect faces
Monica Bellucci
Perhaps the proportions suggested by Dr. Markworth are ideal. But for most truly beautiful and interesting women, as can be seen from the examples presented, imperfection is part of beauty and individuality. So you should think seven times whether it’s worth getting rid of your shortcomings. Suddenly, without them, you will turn from Julia Roberts into a standard “face in the crowd.”
Most women are engaged in an endless search for beauty, delving into their appearance. But not everyone knows what correct facial features make a woman beautiful.
The most famous plastic surgeons in the world, who have studied the facial structure of many women, claim that true beauty lies in the correct proportions between three main features - cheekbones, eyes and lips. If these three parameters are in a certain position and have the desired size and shape, then such a woman is said to have the correct facial features and her appearance is perceived as beautiful.
So, let’s take a closer look at the parameters of a woman’s face:
1. Cheekbones
- this is already 60 percent of female beauty. Imagine that you are drawing a line from the edge of your eye to the tip of your mouth. This should be a clear and regular line of a large circle framing the face. And the larger its radius, that is, it goes lower, the more beautiful the woman’s face is perceived.
If the face is too round, then the curve is difficult to distinguish. If the face is too thin or flat, the line may stand out excessively and extend beyond the eyes and mouth.
A clear line of cheekbones gives women beauty, and if highlighted correctly with makeup, even masculinity. Real life example: Catherine Zeta-Jones and Halle Berry. Both celebrities have regular facial features with beautifully shaped cheekbones that highlight their sensuality and attractiveness.
2. Eyes
- this is 30 percent of female beauty. They add expressiveness and attract the attention of observers. Not only the color and shape of the eyes are important, but their proximity to the eyebrows, as well as the depth of their location.
To assess the beauty of your eyes, the space from the outer edge of the iris (the colored part of the eye) to the eyebrows is used. Now place your index finger horizontally above the eye socket and below the eyebrow. Ideally, the finger should fill this space, leaving no space either above or below.
Equally important is how the eyes are positioned on the face. Oily skin under the eyes or sagging eyelids will disrupt the correct facial features, giving a woman a restless or tired appearance. Ideally, the skin around the eyes should be tight and wrinkle-free.
Real life example: Naomi Campbell, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez. Their eyes have a beautiful shape and color, are well placed, the eyelids are drawn up, and the shape of the eyebrows emphasizes the line of the eyes.
3. Lips
- this is 10 percent of beauty, directly dependent on their completeness. The size of a woman's mouth doesn't matter, because real attractiveness lies in the size of her lips.
Both lips should be full, but the top one should be 25 percent smaller than the bottom one.
Thin female lips can be associated with her rough character and also impart masculinity. It won't make her look beautiful. Also, with age, lips tend to shrink, which can make them appear very small. So give your lips plumpness.
Real life example: Kim Basinger, Angelina Jolie and Liv Tyler. They all have attractive lips in the right proportions.

The face is a mirror of our cultural development, personal experience and genetic characteristics of the family. And yet, why can we say about one person without much enthusiasm, “Yes, he’s handsome,” while the face of another simply fascinates us with its beauty?
Many scientific minds have been looking for an answer to the question “what is beauty?” thousands of years ago. And not to no avail! The Greek philosopher Pythagoras claimed that he not only discovered the secret of beauty, but also that he saw beauty in the universe. He discovered that plants and animals grow according to precise mathematical laws, and everything beautiful in nature obeys the law of the “golden ratio.”
Examples of the “golden ratio” in nature:
The “golden ratio” is a proportional division of a segment into unequal parts, in which the entire segment is related to the larger part as the larger part itself is related to the smaller one. In other words, the smaller segment is to the larger as the larger is to the whole.
A little confusing, isn't it? But this is easy to understand by looking at an ordinary chicken egg, because it is one of many examples of this truly divine proportion.
This means that the beauty of a flower or a sea shell is by no means accidental! Pythagoras calculated that the code of beauty is the ratio 1: 1.618.
Speaking about ideal appearance, the following examples of the golden ratio can be given:
The height of the face divided by the width of the face is 1.618;
The width of the mouth divided by the width of the nose is 1.618;
The distance between the pupils divided by the distance between the eyebrows is 1.618;
The ratio of the length of the hand (from the wrist to the fingertips) to the length of the forearm (from the wrist to the elbow) is 1.618;
The ratio of the distance from the navel to the crown to the distance from shoulder level to the crown is also 1.618.
In addition, in addition to the main relationship of the golden section, scientists have also derived secondary ones, which are reflected in the ideal face:
The distance between the inner corners of the eyes is equal to the length of the eye and the width of the wings of the nose;
The face should be evenly divided into 3 horizontal sections: the forehead from the lower hairline to the eyebrow line, the middle part of the face from the eyebrows to the tip of the nose and the lower part of the face from the tip of the nose to the chin;
The face should be evenly divided into 3 vertical sections through straight lines from the pupils to the corners of the lips.
And of course, in our age of development of plastic surgery, dentistry and cosmetology, the law of the “golden ratio” could not be overlooked.
Renowned plastic surgeon Steven Marquardt worked 25 years ago to make faces deformed by birth or accidents more attractive. But the result did not always suit him. He asked the question: “What is attractiveness?” and began to study this topic in detail. Having asked this question to specialists from the beauty industry, he received quite different and very abstract answers. But he is a plastic surgeon and the expression “beauty is unity with the universe” is just an empty phrase for him. The purposeful surgeon continued his search and discovered universal factors that describe beauty.
But he did not stop there, and, taking as a basis the works of Pythagoras, Leonardo da Vinci and the German professor Zeising, he combined all the knowledge about the “golden ratio” and derived a formula for the ideal face.
The nose in profile and full face is a triangle; in a beautiful face, the sides of the triangle are 1.618 times longer than its base. And a triangle can be converted into a pentagon. When the face has the most pleasant contours, and the most pleasant expression on the face is a smile, then a pentagon appears on it.
Stephen Marquardt combined all the triangles and pentagons, took into account all the relationships with the number 1.618 and created a mask - a “mask of beauty”.
The better the mask fits a person, the more beautiful his face. The mask is suitable for both women and men, regardless of race.
The mask suits all beautiful faces of past eras.
The main weapon of corrective makeup is the use of dark and light tones. It is known that dark tones and colors of cold shades emphasize and distance the shape, reduce volume, while light and warm colors, on the contrary, bring closer and blur the boundaries, increase volume. Knowing these simple rules, based on the ubiquitous law of the golden ratio, allows you to visually make your face more oval, emphasize or widen your eyes, enlarge your lips or narrow your forehead.
The golden ratio is one of the most large-scale, but underestimated discoveries of mankind. Based on a few numbers, it is reflected everywhere in living nature, it is used as a standard in architecture and art, and most importantly, it subconsciously influences the perception of a particular person.
A fish with human lips
The blue dolphin or Cyrtocara moorii is one of the most beautiful cichlids living in the African Lake Malawi. This large-lipped and steep-faced fish cannot be confused with any other.
The protruding mouth and convex forehead create a resemblance to the mammal dolphin, and the lips are undoubtedly similar to human ones. These are quite calm, peaceful fish, but also quite strong. Like all cichlids, blue dolphins are territorial. Male dolphins are incorrigible Casanovas. In nature, the male prefers to stay with two or three females.
In humans, fat is deposited, for example, on the stomach, but in blue dolphins there is a fatty growth on the forehead. With age, males and females develop this growth.
During internecine wars or skirmishes with other species of fish, the color of dolphins intensifies: the throat and fins become almost black, and the body color becomes bright blue.
Blue dolphins carry eggs in their mouths.
