Coffee printer: for printing on coffee and coffee foam
Drawings on the surface of a cappuccino or latte became a real art, and the most capable barista artists collected applause and box office receipts. But progress does not stand still. Today, every coffee shop can acquire a special coffee printer that prints any pictures on the surface of drinks.
The equipment became widely available several years ago. At first, the owners of bars and cafes were cautious about the new product. But the response from visitors was enthusiastic. Today, both expensive designer establishments and affordable student coffee shops have coffee printers.
The first models could only print a one-color image, but now full-color pictures can be easily printed.
What features does a coffee printer have?
- Prints on a light surface. Ideally, it should be white, otherwise the design will be difficult to see. Therefore, pictures are applied to milk foam or ice cream.
- Stock of consumables. This role is played by coffee extract or special food coloring.
- To apply, you will need a mock-up of the image. The coffee printer software has a database of pictures, but for a real exclusive you will need a photo or drawing that you make yourself. For example, a photo of a guest.
How does a coffee printer work and how does printing occur?
The operating principle of the equipment is not much different from a conventional printer.
A special program is installed on a tablet or smartphone that allows you to download all new pictures and send them for coffee printing. The software has its own plot database. As a rule, they are divided by topic: travel, love, neutral. Some programs allow you to edit pictures, add funny inscriptions, hearts or other decorations.
Software for some coffee printers comes as standard. In others, it is paid and installed separately.
So, what do you need to do to decorate your coffee cup?
- Brew the drink according to the usual recipe. Naturally, with milk foam.
- Upload the desired picture or select from the database.
- Place the coffee cup in the device holder.
- Confirm the selection of the picture and click the “print” button.
Via a Wi-Fi connection, the image is transferred to the coffee printer and then transferred to the surface. “Drawing” occurs with the help of a special composition - coffee extract or food coloring is supplied from tiny holes. If we look for analogies with a real printer, the operating principle is reminiscent of inkjet printing.

After sorting out your morning mail, go down to the first floor of the business center and grab a large latte from Starbucks - brighten up your workday with something tasty, warming and invigorating.
