Micellar water is a modern special cosmetic product designed for quick and effective skin cleansing.
So, what is micellar water? Can micellar water replace regular washing and how safe is it for the skin - the opinion of cosmetologists and my rating with real reviews of the 10 most popular manufacturers of micellar water from pharmaceutical, professional and budget cosmetics brands in one review: Bioderma, Garnier, La Roche Posay, Vichy, Academie, Avene, Yves Rocher, Black pearl.
I hope this review, based on my personal testing of cosmetics on myself, will help you understand and choose the best micellar water for daily use.
What is the difference between micellar water and lotion and toner?
Makeup remover milk, soap, cleansing foam, hydrophilic oil and now micellar water is what cosmetic manufacturers offer for cleansing the skin. It would seem that you have to choose - I don’t want to! But if everything was that simple, beauty bloggers would have nothing to talk about.
Micellar water from this entire arsenal is the most innovative product and, although it seems like an ordinary cosmetic product that any girl has used at least once in her life, ten years ago there was no trace of this thing in stores. And not everyone still understands what it is and why micellar water should be used. Why not? Due to the fact that the product is completely new, even cosmetologists and manufacturers on the topic of micellar water have so many conflicting recommendations on the use of this cosmetic product, that it is no wonder that among us consumers there are even more myths and confusion around this facial cleanser.
First, I’ll dispel the most important myth and tell you what micellar water is?
Micellar water is not a tonic or a lotion and cannot replace them - the main thing you should understand in this matter. Although, I admit, I MYSELF used it this way for a long time, because I believe what they write on the bottles.
Our mothers and even grandmothers began to “wash themselves with lotion.” Well, remember how the heroine of the Soviet film “Carnival” said that she “doesn’t wash her face with water, but only wipes her face with lotion, because... protects the skin." This was one of the main beauty recipes of Soviet ladies that have survived to our time.
Our mothers bought cucumber lotion in the store, and even I still have an old Soviet book with homemade beauty recipes, where it was suggested to make such a lotion yourself by pouring vodka over chopped cucumbers and leaving it for several days.
Now everyone is smart and knows what harm alcohol does to skin, even to oily skin with acne and pimples, where it would seem that God himself ordered to “cauterize everything.” But alcohol-dried skin and healthy skin are not the same thing. So lotions are, dare I say it, just yesterday. Well, in any case, the lotion is definitely not an alternative to micellar. Different composition, different technology, different operating principle.
In general, I will summarize.
- Micellar water is a soft cosmetic product based on micelles, the main task of which is to cleanse the skin of fat, cosmetics, and dust.
- Lotion is a water-alcohol based skin cleanser.
- Tonic is a toning product and the first stage of skin moisturizing, which is used before applying serum or face cream.
So the difference between micellar solution, toner and lotion is FUNDAMENTAL, even though they all look the same in the store. And manufacturers are not shy about writing on the bottles that they have a “3-in-1” product that combines the qualities of micellar and tonic, simply, only on the basis that they have added caring components to their product, and thereby further mislead consumers misleading.
But first we need to understand the theory.
EO Laboratory
Price: from 100 rubles.
EO Laboratorie is a popular micellar solution that contains extremely beneficial nutrients. Sea water, glycerin and rice have a beneficial effect on skin cells, saturating them with moisture and vitamins. The product has no smell, the color is completely transparent. Water does not irritate the skin around the eyes at all, as often happens with toners and makeup remover milk. The solution copes with simple decorative cosmetics, easily removing traces of it, but, for example, waterproof mascara is too tough for it.
Pros:
- affordable price;
- completely natural composition without dyes and parabens;
- contains healthy oils;
- It cleanses the skin well from environmental influences and decorative cosmetics.
Minuses:
- Doesn't work well with waterproof makeup.
A very nice product that will become your assistant in the fight for clean, well-groomed facial skin.
What is micellar water:
Mushroom micelles have nothing to do with micellar solution; this is another myth.
Micelles are microparticles consisting of fatty acids or surfactants (surfactants), designed in such a way that, like a magnet, they attract sebum, dust and cosmetics without irritating or damaging the skin.
So that all excess remains on a cotton pad soaked in micellar. Fast, easy, effective. No greasy film or skin dried out by alkali or alcohol.
List of the best
Samples of micellar water for any skin type were selected for examination. The effectiveness of each of them manifests itself purely individually, but customer ratings and reviews make it possible to determine the general patterns of a particular product. The following three cosmetic brands were able to outperform their competitors in those parameters that most often influence purchasing decisions.
“Garnier” - price-quality ratio
According to a study of the micellar market, this water is in greatest demand among buyers. This is not at all surprising: not only the brand name plays a huge role, but also high efficiency, versatility, safe composition and a fair price for a large volume. Most consumers began their acquaintance with micellar water with Garnier. The product does not sting the eyes, is well tolerated and does an excellent job of its primary task - removing makeup, including waterproof makeup.
“Bioderma” - deep cleansing and hypoallergenic
For capricious sensitive skin, it is sometimes very difficult to choose a suitable cleanser for decorative cosmetics. This specimen has gained a reputation as one of the best hypoallergenic micellar waters due to its delicate effect on thin and fragile skin prone to redness. In addition to being highly tolerable, the product effectively copes with the task of cleansing long-lasting cosmetics and helps in the fight against inflammation. The fragrance-free product has a moisturizing and soothing effect and does not require washing with water.
"ECO Laboratorie" from decorative cosmetics for waterproof makeup
The soft makeup remover solution consists of 95% organic components, has a safe composition and does not contain dyes, fragrances or preservatives. The product is very effective in removing waterproof cosmetics, as confirmed by numerous customer reviews. The process of removing makeup is as delicate as possible: just apply a little product to a cotton pad and gently wipe your face without excessive rubbing. In case of accidental contact with the mucous membrane, the liquid does not irritate the eyes, which is another significant advantage when removing persistent cosmetics from the eyelid area.
Why and who needs micellar water:
As I said above, micellar water is a gentle cleanser for the skin. With its help, you can easily and quickly wash off makeup or remove grease, dirt and dust of city streets from the skin; by the end of the day they can be found on any face, even the most barefaced one.
Initially, micellar water was generally an exclusively medicinal product, which dermatologists prescribed to people suffering from eczema and dermatitis with increased skin sensitivity. It was also used to care for the skin of newborns. And subsequently, pharmacologists conducted the necessary research and launched the production of micellar water for widespread use in cosmetology.
Today, micellar water can be found both in the form of liquid water and in the form of wipes soaked in a micellar solution, designed for quickly removing makeup where it is needed, for example, on the road.
Taking into account the characteristics of the skin, today you can buy micellar solutions designed for different skin types: oily or dry and sensitive. Of course, it won’t solve all these problems, but it most likely won’t add new ones, which is good.
Micellar water has become a special salvation for those with sensitive and dry skin. Yes, whatever. Even I know from my own experience how chlorinated water in our city apartments can tighten and dry the skin, so that, willy-nilly, you don’t want to wash your face in the mornings and evenings, as the great Moidodyr bequeathed. And I would be glad to at least sometimes give my skin a break.
But micellar water, alas, is by no means a panacea and it is unlikely that you will be able to escape from tap water with its help. And all because the compositions of micellar water are not as simple and safe as they say on the labels. More precisely, not all and not always.
And in order for there to be more benefit than harm, you should choose high-quality cosmetics and follow the rules for its use. And what harm micellar water can cause, we’ll figure it out in the next part of my article.
Noreva Exfoliac Lotion Micellaire Purifiante
Price: from 1100 rubles.
Noreva Exfoliac Lotion Micellaire Purifiante is a famous cleansing lotion based on micellar water. The 250 ml bottle came to us from France, and is made of ordinary transparent plastic with a blue tint. This product has a rich floral aroma that leaves a wonderful trail. Judging by the composition placed on the label, we can conclude that it is not completely safe and natural. It contains active chemical components, which is not entirely typical for gentle micellar water. However, the product has many rave reviews.
Please note that the composition also contains salicylic acid, which actively fights skin rashes and redness. The product is most suitable for those with oily and combination skin. Water readily removes any tinting agents, traces of mascara and lipstick. After applying the composition, a feeling of cleanliness and freshness appears.
Pros:
- removes makeup well;
- nourishes skin cells;
- has a magnificent floral aroma;
- fights rashes.
Minuses:
- not suitable for sensitive skin;
- the composition contains chemical components.
It’s quite a good makeup remover and moisturizer, which was included in our rating of the best micellar water. Despite its not completely natural composition, water helps not only cleanse pores, but also helps eliminate existing irritations and rashes.
How to use micellar water:
In cleansing the skin, micellar water is the first step from which you should start washing your face, in the evening, before bed, or when you want to remove makeup from your skin.
The method of using micellar water is quite simple - apply it liberally to a cotton pad and gently rub your face along the massage lines. Eyes, forehead, nose, cheeks and even neck. There is no need to rub or apply any effort, the cotton pad will absorb all the excess by itself. You may have to use more than one or two cotton pads to completely remove makeup from your face.
My life hack for budget-conscious people is that I wipe one side of my face with one side of a cotton pad with micellar, and the other side with the back side of the same pad. Usually this is enough for me to remove daytime makeup from my face, and the discs and micellar water itself consume half as much.
In any case, after using micellar water, a second stage of skin cleansing will follow - traditional, with water, or if you really want to wash your face with cosmetics - a large amount of facial tonic. And only a two-phase makeup remover can completely remove stubborn eye makeup.
And now we have come to the question, which to this day is the main stumbling block about which cosmetologists and micellar water manufacturers cannot agree.
Cosmetologists say micellar water should be washed off; manufacturers write on the bottles: “does not require rinsing.” Who to believe here?
Do I need to wash off micellar water, how and with what?
Allergies, skin irritation and acne are what anyone who took the manufacturers' word for it and limited their washing to micellar water could have encountered. The skin can still forgive this once or twice, but if the washing regime is violated for a long time, the system fails. How does this happen and why does it happen?
Micellar water is absolutely safe for the skin and can be doused with it from head to toe at any time when you want to “refresh yourself” - also a myth, albeit a partial one.
It’s all about the composition of the micellar, as we will look at in more detail below. Firstly, the micelles themselves in solutions come in different origins, in addition, propylene glycols that enhance the effect of surfactants and preservatives themselves can become sources of skin problems. No morning rose extracts will help much here.
In addition, in my reviews of micellar products from different manufacturers, I noted that one way or another, stickiness on the skin remains after any micellar products, from the categories of expensive and cheap, natural or pharmacy cosmetics.
So, it’s safer to wash micellar water off your face with regular water, so as not to encounter a riot of your skin in the form of peeling, redness and even allergic reactions. This is especially true for micellar water from those brands that initially cause you ANY discomfort - burning, sticky film on the skin after use. This is definitely not a reason to experiment.
Micellar water does NOT replace traditional washing with water - this is another myth. Theoretically, such tricks can be carried out, but on a regular basis, even with the safest brands, you should not abuse them.
And I believe, and cosmetologists support, that micellar water cannot replace traditional washing.
According to Tiina Orasmäe-Meder: The principle of micellar cleansing is by definition more gentle than the traditionally used saponification of fats, which always leads to disruption of the skin barrier function. However, even the substances used to create micellar products are not completely neutral in most cases.
Standard recommendations “do not rinse off” micellar products after use imply mechanical removal of the product from the skin using a cotton pad or napkin, and then additional treatment of the skin with an aqueous solution (tonic) to remove product residues and impurities.
However, it is technically very difficult to completely remove the product in this way: to do this, you need to wipe the skin very carefully, and then use tonic much more generously than most consumers are used to - almost no one uses more than 0.5 ml of tonic, whereas for cleansing it would be good to use at least 5 ml.
And a useful video about the correct and safe use of micellar water from a cosmetologist:
Mavala Clean & Comfort
Price: from 900 rubles.
We understand what a classic micellar solution looks like, but we can only guess what you can expect from water born in the Swiss Alps! Mavala Clean & Comfort is a unique product, incredibly gentle and effective, perfect for sensitive skin. The softening solution acts delicately, penetrating deep into the cells. Using water from mountain streams, you can not be afraid of getting irritation and an allergic reaction, because nature itself takes care of your beauty!
Water is rich in macro- and microelements that saturate skin cells. Using Mavala Clean & Comfort, you get a feeling of comfort, cleanliness and lightness. Irritated skin calms down after the first use of the micellar product, and the skin is filled with missing moisture. The face looks more “fresh” and well-groomed.
Pros:
- moisturizes;
- removes cosmetic residues;
- removes inflammation, peeling and itching;
- fills cells with vitamins;
- targeted at sensitive skin.
Minuses:
- high price.
If your skin reacts painfully to temperature changes, exposure to ultraviolet rays and external factors, then you should purchase Mavala Clean & Comfort. Water has a gentle and gentle effect on the skin, and can easily replace the most intense masks and nourishing creams.
Safety, compositions and categories of micellar water based on them:
Is there a difference between cheap micellar water for three rubles or, like with face cream, is it not worth skimping on?
Let's try to figure it out first at the category level of micellar water, which is divided based on the origin of those same micelles.
Micellar water based on poloxomers:
Poloxamer is a relatively safe cleansing ingredient for the skin, however, in some cases it can exhibit toxic properties. In the composition, this ingredient is designated as (Poloxamer 188, 407, 124, 338, etc.).
Poloxamer is an emulsifier, dispersant and wetting agent. Used in the production of shampoos, makeup removers, and oral care products. Has antimicrobial activity.
Brands in this category: Vichy, Academie, LRP, Garnier from my review contain poloxamers. And also the popular micellar water Nivea or L'Oreal are also based on them.
The micellar Venus and Avene from my review have a combined composition, which in addition to poloxamers also contains PEG. This is also a fairly common combination.
Micellar water with eco-composition:
This water contains environmentally friendly cleansing ingredients (Lauryl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside, Disodium Coco-Glucoside Citrate, Sodium Coco-Glucoside Tartrate), most often used in natural cosmetics. These ingredients are non-toxic and do not cause skin irritation, but cosmetologists still recommend not to overuse even them.
Lauryl Glucoside A cleansing and surfactant extracted from glucose and coconut oil.
This surfactant has very mild cleansing properties and is completely non-toxic. Despite this, recently there have been discussions about the safety of this substance. There is a grading system for lauryl glucoside based on purity and quality. If the purity and quality of lauryl glucoside are violated, there is a high probability of allergic reactions.
Brands in this category: NUXE, Melvita from my review, as well as micellar solutions from the iherb website - MyChelle Dermaceuticals and DermaE
PEG based micellar water:
PEG is a large group of components that is often found in cosmetics, medicines and even food products as a preservative.
The abbreviation PEG stands for Polyethylene Glycol. Most often it is isolated from castor oil, or even more often from petroleum. Due to the fact that poorly purified PEG is toxic and carcinogenic, and because of this, PEG can increase the absorption by the skin and mucous membranes of more dangerous co-ingredients in cosmetics, therefore PEG can often be seen in lists of dangerous ingredients in cosmetics.
In general, manufacturers consider this ingredient safe provided that a certain level of concentration of the ingredient in a cosmetic product is observed and cosmetics containing it are used on healthy skin without damage. Because a properly manufactured PEG will not contain a single molecule of Dioxane and will not be dangerous to humans (if the polymerization went as expected).
Brands in this category: Bioderma, Black Pearl, Diademine from my review.
What conclusions can be drawn from information about the composition of cosmetics?
In my opinion, here we need to maintain a balance of common sense - between trusting brands that do not have the deliberate goal of destroying humanity through micellar water, but still keeping abreast of it in order to minimize possible risks or troubles. Trust, so to speak, but check.
The main thing is to remember that just by reading PEG or Coco Glucoside on the label, we will never know how safe the cosmetics REALLY are. The composition, alas, does not reveal the quality of the ingredient used by the manufacturer of the cosmetic product, nor what degree of purification it has, nor what concentration it has in its composition, nor how it interacts with other ingredients; not every chemistry department graduate will be able to figure it out right away.
This means that, alas, it will not be possible to rank and compare cosmetic products at the consumer level only based on the main working ingredient in the composition, but it is advisable to know all this.
Well, it’s still better to wash micellar water off the skin, just in case, so to speak.
Is it possible to do without micellar water in care:
High-quality cleansing of facial skin is undoubtedly one of the most important guarantees of its beauty and health. But, in my personal opinion, the importance of micellar water in this matter is somewhat exaggerated. And not only because the question of its absolute safety is in question. (if you start delving into other cosmetics, things are no better there)
But because, having tried a lot of different brands from different categories of composition, I was able to verify from personal experience and I declare with all responsibility that micellar water is NOT capable of completely removing makeup, especially long-lasting makeup . Therefore, it is definitely impossible to call it a truly universal cleanser that can replace and cancel other cosmetic products in this category.
And micellar water, facial wash or hydrophilic oil, in my opinion, are only good if they are properly combined. First, I wash off my makeup with micellar water, and then, whatever it doesn’t remove, I wash off with foam cleanser and water. The only way.
And this is currently the most reliable method for me to effectively remove makeup that exists.
In order not to be completely unfounded, in another post I will definitely show how even one of the standard micellars is powerless against gel eyeliner.
Garnier with oils
Price: from 350 rubles.
Garnier with oils is one of the most common water options that can be found in any mass market. Most beauties agreed that this product can easily replace expensive hydrophilic oil and moisturizing creams. The presence of oils in the water allows you to effectively combat even the remnants of professional waterproof cosmetics on your face. In addition, oils provide additional care, actively nourish cells and increase tone.
Notably, Garnier's oil formula is activated by shaking the bottle as the micelles interact with the oils. The product has a pleasant fruity aroma, is perfectly absorbed and tones the skin. Although the manufacturer claims that it is enough to wipe your face with a cotton pad with micellar water, which does not require rinsing, it is still better to rinse your face with warm water. The presence of dense oils in the composition of the product ensures the presence of a thin oil film on the face, which can cause discomfort.
Pros:
- copes even with persistent cosmetics;
- does not irritate the skin at all;
- does not dry;
- is used sparingly;
- has a pleasant fruity aroma;
- low cost.
Minuses:
- requires rinsing.
Garnier with oils is a reliable assistant in the fight for the beauty and health of the skin. After several uses, you will notice that the skin has a noticeably refreshed appearance with a beautiful radiance, the absence of enlarged pores and unevenness.
Best micellar water
And finally, I will finish with the theoretical part of my review and write my reviews of the micellar water that I have tried or use in my daily life. Because theory is theory, but even a chemical specialist is not enough to make a verdict. Experience, experimentation and observation are required. And as the owner of sensitive skin and especially eyes, in these cosmetic tests I encountered unpleasant consequences from some brands of micellar water.
Thank God I didn’t develop a real allergy, but if the micellar stung my skin and corroded my eyes, for me this was the very wake-up call that made me decide to give up this micellar water and write down the brand from my rating as an outsider.
And since I have almost a scientific experiment here, I’ll tell you not just some theoretical speculation based on reviews from the Internet, but about my own observations based on practical experience in using micellar water.
My rating will be based on three indicators:
- Does micellar water cause irritation (allergy) in me?
- How well does micellar remove makeup?
- my general subjective sensations after washing with a micellar solution (fragrance, feeling of stickiness, tightness, etc.)
Bioderma micellar water:
Ask on any cosmetic forum which micellar water is the best - and Bioderma Sensibio H2O will definitely be in the top three.
It was with Bioderma micellar water that my acquaintance with this product category began; numerous positive reviews for it and the 2 for the price of 1 promotion left no choice.
And I bought myself a double pack twice. Needless to say, I have used 2 liters of micellar water for more than one year and I still use this water to this day. Although, honestly, I don’t consider her the best right now.
Composition of Bioderma micellar water:
Aqua, Peg-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Propylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Mannitol, Xylitol, Rhamnose, Fructooligosaccharides, Disodium Edta, Cetrimonium Bromide.
First of all, I don't really like the fact that Bioderma smells like iron. You can say that it is odorless, but for some reason I feel exactly the iron. And the main feeling from it is as if I was washing my face with hard water. In general, I definitely do not have enough caring components in it. And thirdly, it handles makeup well, but worse than even some of the cheap participants in my review.
On the other hand, I used this micellar water for quite a long time (just like a toner, without rinsing it off) and never had any unpleasant moments that I could complain about. As you will understand later, this in itself is a big plus.
My rating: 4 out of 5 points
buy Bioderma micellar water like other pharmacy cosmetics; the most profitable option now is at Pharmcosmetics (as I have, 500 ml of Bioderma micellar water can now be bought here for 1,412 rubles)
And don’t forget that using the promotional code CUP17 you can get an additional discount at Pharma - 17% on your order.
Micellar water La Roche-Posay
In 2021, La Roche Posay released their micellar water in a “sensitive skin” format. I tried both new and old and even regularly bought Toleran eye makeup remover, which had one drawback - the packaging format.
I don’t know who recommended that they release an eye cleanser in ampoule format. Maybe it’s hygienic and all that, but it’s absolutely not budget-friendly. No wonder it was discontinued. Because of which I suffered for some time, until I tried the new micellar LRP Ultra.
Composition of La Roche Pose Ultra micellar water
Aqua/Water, Peg-7 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Poloxamer 124, Poloxamer 184, Peg-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Glycerin, Polysorbate 80, Disodium Edta, Bht, Myrtrimonium Bromide, Parfum/Fragrance
In general, the standard La Roche Posay micellar did not cause me great delight. Good, but nothing outstanding. The updated La Roche Posay Ultra is definitely my favorite.
Removes makeup easily and effortlessly, simply a champion in speed of makeup removal! I just applied a cotton pad and that’s it. Well, or almost everything. If the makeup is too persistent, then even this miracle product won’t do the job on its own.
I will join numerous positive reviews of La Roche Pose micellar water, it is sooo soft and gentle, absolutely no worse than my favorite Toleran ampoules for removing makeup from sensitive eyes. In general, among pharmacy brands, La Roche Posay has the coolest micellar product - that's for sure!
My rating: 5 out of 5 points
The most profitable place to buy La Roche Posay micellar water is now on the Pharmcosmetics website - RUB 1,423. for a large bottle.
Or on the official website of La Roche Posay for 1,478 rubles. for 400 ml.
Review of VICHY micellar water:
Another Vichy pharmacy micellar water in my review
Composition of Vichy micellar water:
AQUA/WATER, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, POLOXAMER 184, PANTHENOL, SODIUM COCOAMPHOACETATE, DISODIUM EDTA, SODIUM CHLORIDE, MYRTRIMONIUM BROMIDE, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE
Vichy micellar water is not bad, but its cleansing properties are average. Even Vivienne Szabo's mascara was difficult to cope with, and she is far from the most thermonuclear in terms of stability. And the stickiness is clearly felt after use. But the micellar smells delicious, like roses.
My rating: 4 out of 5 points
On the Vichy official website micellar water can be purchased for RUB 1,292. for 400 ml. There are always discounts and gifts, so the purchase can be not only more profitable than in a regular pharmacy, but also more enjoyable.
Review of AVENE micellar water:
Well, where would we be without micellar water from the pharmacy from Aven.
Composition of Avene micellar water:
Avene thermal water, alpha-bisabolol, sodium hyaluronate, mild tensoactive substances
Aven micellar water has conflicting reviews on the Internet, and I have ambivalent feelings about it. In many ways, my review is also influenced by the strange scent of this water; it is neither neutral nor tasty, but somehow strangely tasteless. I don't even know what to call this scent.
Aven's washing ability is about the same as everyone else's on my list, and the sticky feeling is quite pronounced. Wash, wash and wash again after using it.
My rating: 4 out of 5 points
The best place to buy Aven micellar water is now on the Pharmcosmetics website - 965 rubles. for 400 ml. Now there is a 27% discount on it.
Review of NUXE micellar water:
I still had the old version of the Nux micellar with eco-composition. I don’t know how the new one is, but my feelings from that Nuxe makeup remover water were very positive. Delicate, soft, easily copes with makeup. In this format, it is definitely on my top list.
My rating: 5 out of 5 points
Price for Powder from 885 to 1265 rubles. depending on volume
Review of ACADEMIE micellar water:
The only representative from the category of professional cosmetics and the most expensive in my large review is Academy micellar water.
Composition of Akademi micellar water:
water (aqua), peg-6 caprylic/capric glycerides, pentylene glycil, poloxamer 184, tocopherol, ethylhexlglycerin, fragrance (parfum), sodium phytate, bht, phenoxyethanol, cetrimonium bromide.
I absolutely did not expect that something could happen to me with expensive professional cosmetics that had never happened with three-penny brands. In general, there is no time for any subjective sensations, but simply and banally, Akademi micellar water stings my skin and, most importantly, my eyes.
So, despite the authority of the brand and the recommendations of cosmetologists, the product went into the trash. Alas. 8(
My rating: 2 out of 5 points
The Academie brand is presented on “Strawberry”, where it costs 2364 rubles. (and this is with a 30% discount).
Micellar water CORA
Micellar water from the Russian brand KORA promises to be not just a makeup remover, but practically a skin care product.
The composition of micellar water "Bark" contains a soft cleansing formula based on surfactant micelles made from natural coconut oil and amino acids.
Active ingredients: 8 amino acids NMF, Crimean rose hydrolate, allantoin, thermal water.
Aqua, Glycerin, Sea Water, Coco-Glucoside, Poloxamer 184, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Urea, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Sorbitol, Glycine, Alanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Arginine, Lysine, Glutamic Acid, Rose Flower Water , Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Sodium Methylparaben, DMDM Hydantoin, Parfum.
The water itself is pleasant, non-sticky, with a light floral scent, it perfectly removes any makeup and does not irritate the skin and mucous membranes of the eyes, if you suddenly decide to remove makeup from the skin of the eyelids with it. A very worthy product that I recommend trying.
My rating: 5 out of 5 points
You can buy Cora micellar water for RUB 359. for 300 ml. on Pharmaceutical Cosmetics
Review of LUMEN micellar water:
Last year Lumen updated the design, packaging and… prices of their cosmetics, which increased noticeably. I somehow didn’t have a good relationship with the old skincare products of this brand, so it was doubly interesting for me to try and understand what has changed since then.
Composition of micellar Lumene:
Aqua (water), Butylene glycol, poloxamer 184, eriophorum spissum (Nordic cottongrass) flower/stem extract, phenoxyethanol, glycerin, propanediol, disodium edta. Polysorbate 20, ethylhexyglycerin, allantoin, potassium sorbate, sorbic acid, sodium hydroxide
And again, without much prelude, I’ll tell you that Lumene micellar water simply didn’t suit me, causing irritation from the first use. I tried it twice and the reaction was exactly the same. Well, I didn’t torture my body a third time. Am I a monster?
And by the way, phenixethanol is again in the composition. So that you understand, phenixethanol is a derivative of formaldehyde, and it is a strong carcinogen that can cause tumors. It is clear that micellar alone will not poison you, but it is better to minimize this dangerous ingredient in your cosmetics bag, fortunately, there is something to replace it with.
In general, Lumene's design has changed, but my skepticism towards the brand has not yet.
My rating: 2 out of 5 points
Price for Powder from 495 to 855 rubles. depending on volume
Review of micellar water GARNIER (Garnier):
I think this will be the most interesting review out of all 11 in this review. Because Garnier micellar water is the absolute leader in sales in the category and there are so many rave reviews written for it that it’s even scary to write your own.
Let me start by saying that I also tried the traditional Garnier micellar water in a pink bottle and, as you can see, I have this new product - micellar water with oils.
By the way, I don’t know to what extent micellar water can be “with oils”, since the original idea of micellar water does not imply this? Isn't this a regular two-phase makeup remover, just a play on terms? Correct me if you know.
Composition of micellar water with Garnier oils:
Aqua/water, cyclopentasiloxane, isohexadecane, argania spinosa oil/argania spinosa kernel oil, benzyl alcohol, benzyl salicylate, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, ci 60725/violet 2, decyl glucoside, dipotassium phosphate, disodium edta, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethylhexyl salicylate , geraniol, haematococcus pluvialis/haematococcus pluvialis extract, hexylene glycol, limonene, linalool, pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate, polyaminopropyl biguanide, potassium phosphate, sodium chloride, parfum/fragrance.
Well, now the most interesting thing is the review, I’ll start it with the fact that I was allergic to Garnier micellar water. Burning skin, unpleasant sensations, this is all that, as it turns out, can be found in both expensive cosmetics and those cosmetics that are probably suitable for everyone. Everyone except me. 8(
So I simply cannot evaluate this product fully for good reasons. It was not suitable for my sensitive skin and eyes. And in other reviews they also write that Garnier micellar water dries out the skin around the eyes when used for a long time. Which is not good at all.
In turn, I can also note that Garnier micellar water with oils removes even stubborn makeup much better than regular makeup. Which is not surprising, because approximately the same can be said about almost any two-phase system.
My rating: 2 out of 5 points
If you love this brand, I recommend paying attention to the promotional set in the Lamoda store with traditional Garnier micellar water, you can buy it for 560 rubles. for 400 ml. water and body milk with bifidobacteria, which in this case comes as a gift.
And so, this water is probably available in any store with budget cosmetics, so many people love it.
Micellar water BLACK PEARL
Well, another cheap micellar water in my review from Russian. I would hardly buy it on purpose; I don’t remember that I ever liked “Black Pearl” in any way.
But it came to me in one of the Glambags, and in this case, why not try it, for general development, so to speak?
Composition of micellar water BLACK PEARL
Aqua, Pentylene Glycol, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Allantoin, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Ascorbic Acid, Betaine, Beta-Sitosterol, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Citric Acid, C12-13 Pareth-9, Desamido Collagen (desamidocollagen), Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline, Disodium EDTA, Glycerin, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Lecithin, Linoleic Acid, Mannitol, Potassium Sorbate, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, Sodium Ascorbate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hyaluronate (sodium hyaluronate), Sodium Methylparaben , Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate.
The composition of the micellar water “Black Pearl”, frankly speaking, is contradictory, but quite rich... And they added a little parabens and did not spare any useful caring components. Which, apparently, are all parabens and won.
Because “Black Pearl” micellar water not only removes makeup without any effort, but also became the leader in my micellar review. Here, it feels like La Roche Posay micellar water for only 200 rubles! I don’t even know what I can add to that review. So it's a delight. It’s not for nothing that the “Black Pearl” micellar entered my top list of “Best cosmetics of 2021”. And it was the “Black Pearl” micellar water that managed to cope with stubborn black eyeliners that neither water, nor oil, nor cleansing foam would take - my experiment clearly proved this.

The cheapest micellar water in my review, you can buy it for only 149 rubles . in the Podruzhka store
Reviews and top rating of the best companies
Looking at the shelves of cosmetic stores, you can find a lot of different bottles of micellar water with prices ranging from 200 rubles to 2000 thousand luxury ones. So which is the best brand of all the ones presented? How to choose it correctly and what should you pay attention to?
Garnier
One of the most popular products that is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive ones, is Garnier micellar water. The range also includes an option for oily, blemish-prone skin. According to the manufacturer, it does not require rinsing, but it’s up to you to decide. This product is suitable for daily use, as well as for the area around the eyes. But, according to many girls, after cleansing the eyes, a slight burning sensation appears.
L'Oreal
Micellar lotion from L'Oreal is also very popular among the fair sex. Because it is made for all skin types. It does not contain fragrances or alcohol, ideally cleanses impurities from pores and removes makeup in a matter of seconds. Has a soothing and moisturizing effect on the skin. You can also take a closer look at the micellar gel from the same company. Some girls, leaving their reviews of this product, noted not only the positive qualities of use, but also a feeling of skin tightness, as well as a slight burning sensation in the eyes.
Nivea
Nivea micellar water will provide you with reliable makeup cleansing, refreshing and toning of the skin. Also suitable for all skin types. But, like the previous two remedies, when using this water, some girls felt a burning sensation in the eyes and in their area.
La roche posay
La roche posay micellar water will thoroughly cleanse your skin and remove even the most stubborn makeup. Maintains optimal skin pH balance. Does not contain alcohol, suitable for daily use. It costs significantly more than the three previous products, but many girls note extremely positive reviews after using it and no burning sensation on the eyes. Contains thermal water and glycerin.
Caudalie
This cleansing water is suitable for even the most sensitive skin and for removing eye makeup. Moisturizes and soothes the skin. Contains no soap. Many girls have a very positive attitude towards this micellar water, but consider the price to be a little overpriced.
Bioderma
Bioderma water contains caring, moisturizing and skin-soothing ingredients of plant origin. According to many women, it cleanses even the most stubborn makeup very well, nourishes the skin and does not leave behind a sticky layer.
Vichy
The well-known brand Vichy also produces micellar water for makeup removal; it does not cause irritation due to its fairly good composition, and also does not clog pores. In addition to cleansing, it refreshes the skin. According to reviews from many ladies, they note a positive effect on the skin of the face, excellent removal of makeup, and also a fairly low consumption. Cases of eye irritation are minimal.
Hydra Vegetal by Yves Rocher
This water will help not only effectively remove makeup, but also refresh your facial skin. The Yves Rocher brand is valued for its natural face and body care products. Therefore, when choosing a product from this brand, you will not go wrong. Thanks to the use of Hydra Vegetal, you will receive not only cleansed but also moisturized skin. The only disadvantages expressed by girls who purchased this product are that it does not cope well with waterproof makeup. At the same time, only positive reviews are noted from girls with dry skin. This product helps them moisturize the skin so that there is no need to use cream.
