Cooking technology
The rules for preparing a cold drink are not much different from classic brewing, but there are some peculiarities. First of all, pay attention to the choice of ingredients. To get a rich coffee taste, you should use only natural beans or ground coffee.
It is better to take classic espresso with high strength as the basis of the drink. To do this, bring it to a boil several times, but do not boil. The prepared coffee is cooled with ice and filtered. The drink should be homogeneous without any admixtures of coffee grounds.
Production time – 30 minutes. Calorie content of one serving is 65 kcal.
Technology Basics
The basic rules for making iced coffee differ little from the requirements for brewing coffee in general, however, the technology for making a cool coffee drink may differ from the traditional one.
- The main rule is the choice of ingredients. A good coffee drink can be made from instant coffee, but this is not the best choice. If you want iced coffee to be truly tasty and aromatic, use only natural coffee, beans or ground (depending on the recipe).
- Coffee should be brewed correctly. The basis for preparing iced coffee is most often strong black expresso or Turkish coffee. To obtain strong coffee when brewing it in a Turk, you need to bring the drink to a boil several times, but do not boil.
- To prepare a refreshing coffee drink, brewed coffee is cooled and filtered - no coffee grounds should get into it.
The technology for preparing iced coffee may have its own characteristics depending on the recipe. After reading them, you will see for yourself.

Now all coffee shops and even some chain restaurants, including the popular McDonald's, offer iced coffee on the menu. Therefore, if you don’t want to cook it yourself, you can enjoy the purchased drink.
Based on the classic recipe, many varieties of iced coffee have been developed, including those with the addition of liqueur.
Classic ice coffee recipe
To prepare one serving, brew double espresso, 60 ml. If you like your coffee sweet, add sugar to your hot coffee, as it will dissolve less easily in an icy environment.
One teaspoon “without a slide” contains 3-4 grams of coffee, “with a slide” – about 6 grams. For a double espresso you need 14 grams of coffee, which means we take about 2.5 heaped teaspoons of ground coffee. Or 2 tablespoons of coffee beans if you grind it.
Add 200 ml chilled milk to the espresso. Place ice cubes in a glass and pour coffee with milk.
Cinnamon Recipe
The classic recipe can be supplemented with cinnamon to add an oriental aroma and tartness to the drink.
You will need:
- 150 ml brewed coffee;
- 3-4 ice cubes;
- cinnamon stick;
- 35 g whipped cream.
Cooking steps:
- Place a cinnamon stick in hot, freshly brewed espresso and leave the liquid to cool.
- Remove the cinnamon from the coffee and strain it.
- Place the drink in the refrigerator for half an hour.
- Place ice cubes in the bottom of tall glasses, fill them with cold coffee and garnish with cream.
Technological process for preparing drinks
The differences between preparing regular drinks and cold ones are practically the same. The only difference can be in the choice of ingredients.
Important! The basis is coffee. When cooking in a Turk, do not boil it.
The appearance of bubbles will signal that it is removed from the heat. After the sediment sinks to the bottom of the Turk, return the coffee to the stove again. 2-3 times are enough for this procedure. After cooking, strain.
Mix iced coffee with ice cubes, milk and heavy cream. You can add sugar or condensed milk. Beat everything with a blender or mixer. Pour into glasses and decorate as you wish.

Ice latte recipes
How to make an iced latte? If you want to treat yourself to a delicious coffee cocktail, you can use one of the recipes offered below.
There are 2 options for preparing an iced latte:
- manually;
- using a blender or shaker.
Let's look at each option in more detail.
Handmade Iced Latte Recipe
To prepare an iced coffee drink, take the following ingredients:
- ½ glass of milk;
- 60 ml freshly brewed espresso;
- 1 teaspoon syrup;
- 6-8 ice cubes.
Let's start cooking:
- First of all, you need to brew fresh espresso. You can prepare a latte base using any recipe. In our case, we prepare espresso at the rate of 1 tablespoon of freshly ground beans per 60 ml of water.
- Leave the prepared espresso and let it cool.
- Now you need to boil the milk until foam appears, and then send it to cool. This is a kind of sterilization of milk.
- We take an Irish glass - it is ideal for a cold latte. You need to pour cooled milk into it.
- Add syrup to milk. Here we focus on our taste and individual preferences. Some people love refreshing cocktails, so they often use mint syrup, others prefer berry flavors, and for others, a chocolate cocktail will be a treat.
- Next, take the ice and carefully drop it into the glass, cube by cube.
- Now it’s time to introduce cooled espresso into the drink. Carefully pour the coffee into the glass in a thin stream down the side. This will avoid mixing the layers of the cocktail.
This completes the preparation of a delicious coffee drink. If desired, you can decorate the cocktail with cinnamon, grated chocolate, coconut flakes, crushed nuts or whipped cream peaks.
Preparing cold latte in a blender/shaker
The list of ingredients in this recipe is similar to the previous option for making iced latte. The only difference is in the layer mixing technology:
- We start, according to tradition, by preparing the base - espresso. By the way, you can adjust its strength at your discretion. After all, not everyone likes strong coffee, but perhaps, on the contrary, there is a desire to make a more invigorating cocktail. Freshly brewed espresso is sent to cool to room temperature.
- Heat the milk until a foamy cap appears and let it cool completely.
- Pour the cooled milk into the blender/shaker bowl. By the way, an immersion or stationary blender is better suited for making iced latte, but not with large knives. The latter is suitable for grinding food - it will not beat the drink to the consistency we need. The ideal option is a shaker.
- Add syrup to milk. It is better not to experiment with the amount of syrup, since it is sold in concentrated form, and too much in fractional proportions will make the drink unsuitable for consumption.
- Whisk the milk and syrup until a homogeneous, slightly foamy consistency is obtained. Add cooled espresso to the resulting milk mass and beat again.
- Place ice in a glass. And here it is better to adhere to the specified proportion. A large amount of ice in a cocktail will turn it into a thin and not very tasty drink.
- Pour the resulting coffee and milk mixture over the ice.

Similar to the previous option, iced latte can be decorated with various additives. But it is already a tasty drink.
This cocktail will definitely appeal to all coffee connoisseurs. You can also try making an iced latte with decaf coffee. This is for those times when you can’t or don’t want to drink a strong drink, but really want to treat yourself to a coffee cocktail.
Drink preparation technology
Iced coffee is prepared according to the same rules as a regular drink. But the technology for preparing ice cappuccino may differ slightly from the classic recipe. One of the most important rules is choosing the right ingredients. Of course, you can prepare a tonic base from soluble granules, but it is better to give preference to natural grains.
The basis of the drink is strong black coffee. If you brew espresso in a Turk, do not bring the contents to a boil. As soon as bubbles begin to appear on the surface, turn off the stove, let the coffee stand so that the sediment sinks to the bottom, and then return the Turk to the fire. The procedure should be repeated 2-3 times. The finished espresso must brew, and then it is thoroughly filtered so that no particles of coffee beans get into the glass.
It’s not difficult to prepare an iced drink with milk at home, as long as you have a mixer or blender on hand. Brew espresso according to your favorite recipe, strain the finished drink, and cool. Pour into a blender bowl, add 5-6 ice cubes, pour in a few spoons of milk, 5 spoons of heavy cream. If you like sweet coffee, add sugar or condensed milk. Beat all ingredients thoroughly until the ice turns into crumbs. Pour the cappuccino into glasses and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired. You can pour in a little syrup and top with whipped cream.
Another popular homemade recipe for ice cappuccino with caramel:
- Fill a drink glass one-third full with ice.
- Pour in caramel syrup (amount depends on your preference).
- Add cooled espresso, stir all ingredients with a bar spoon.
- Pour the whipped cold milk into the glass so that about 1 cm remains at the top for cream.
- Using a dispenser, apply a pattern of caramel syrup on top of the creamy foam.
Calorie content
From the set of initial products needed to prepare an iced latte, it is clear that milk, cream and additives in the form of syrups give the drink additional energy value. And, of course, they add calories.
An average serving of iced latte includes:
- 3.3 gr. proteins;
- 3.7 gr. fats;
- 12.5 gr. carbohydrates.
The calorie content of iced latte ranges from 90 to 120 kcal per standard serving. Cream is not taken into account. Otherwise, the calorie content depends on the initial set of products: the fat content of the milk, the type of syrup and even the type of coffee.
