You can experiment with coffee in different ways, as long as it tastes good. Coffee with yolk is a perfect example of this. It is also called Scandinavian and Turkish. Popularly it has a simple name - “wren”. It is cooked only with the yolk; whites are usually not used.

To make egg coffee, you should stock up on a coffee machine or Turkish coffee machine. It is best to choose a Turk to get a richer drink. The coffee beans are sorted, washed and roasted. And then the real miracles begin.

How to make classic coffee with yolk?

  1. Let's take the Turk. A coffee maker will also work.
  2. Add Arabica beans.
  3. Fill with water.
  4. Let's cook. When the first bubbles appear, turn off the heat and remove the Turk from the stove.
  5. We put the Turk back when the foam settles.
  6. We repeat the action two times. This is necessary to obtain a rich espresso taste.
  7. Add sugar and milk to the yolk.
  8. Beat with a whisk.
  9. We take glasses. Pour in the coffee, and then the egg and milk mixture. Stir and enjoy.

Cooking process

  1. Place a few teaspoons of black coffee in a coffee filter. Distribute it evenly so that there are no lumps.
  2. Boil water, fill half a glass cup to heat it, and then pour the boiling water into the filter.

  3. Let the coffee drip into the cup for a few minutes.

  4. Break 2 chicken eggs, divide into whites and yolks. Set the whites aside. In our case, only the yolk is used.

  5. Now add a little condensed milk to the yolks and whisk this mixture until it turns bright yellow. It is better not to use a mixer, because in this case the yolk may become too liquid.

  6. Pour the egg and condensed milk mixture into the cup, making sure to create a foamy head on the top of the coffee. In Vietnam, a special device is used for this, which does not allow the mixture of yolks and milk to flow into the cup too quickly. But in the absence of one, you can simply do it with a spoon.

So, your cup of egg coffee is ready! But personally, I would advise not to make filtered coffee, but to prepare it Turkish. The effect will be no less wonderful! At least it works with Viennese coffee.

Coffee with egg Scandinavian style

What’s noteworthy is that they drink Scandinavian egg coffee in medium-sized containers. It should resemble a Viking mug. Moreover, coffee can be either hot or cold.

  • a tablespoon of dark roast coffee (for example, Robusta);
  • a tablespoon of condensed milk;
  • egg yolk;
  • a teaspoon of vanilla sugar (if you don’t have it, regular sugar will do).

Strong coffee is brewed. If you have a coffee machine, you can brew an Americano. Whip the yolk and sugar in a small container until soft peaks form. Condensed milk must be added carefully so that the sugar foam remains. It is laid out on the surface of the drink. You can sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder to taste.

Typically, Vietnamese coffee is served in a cup that sits in a container of boiling water. With this method of serving, the coffee will not cool down, and the egg will continue to cook.

Scandinavian style coffee (Sweden)

It is considered a traditional drink. Immigrants from Scandinavia brought it to the States. It is still popular today. It is drunk at church meetings. Because of this, it is now called the church drink.

The recipe is suggested for two servings. If you only need one, use half an egg.

Required ingredients:

  • 1 egg;
  • 400 ml boiling water;
  • 200 ml cold water;
  • 20 g coffee. It is recommended to choose a coarse grind and light roast.

The egg is broken into a container, a quarter glass of cold water and ground coffee are added to it. All ingredients are mixed until smooth. 400 ml of boiling water is poured into the Turk. A mixture of eggs and coffee is poured over them. The drink is brewed for 3-5 minutes.

By the time the coffee is almost boiling, you need to add 100 ml of cold water. Then it is infused for 2 minutes.

All parts of the grounds are removed from the surface of the drink. It’s even better to strain through a fine sieve so that there is no grounds left at all.

Paleo, keto and other healthy coffee with egg yolk

Adjustments can be made to this cooking method depending on personal preference. You can add your desired flavors or ingredients. For example, coconut oil (it is added while stirring), cinnamon and turmeric (they are sprinkled on the foam of the finished treat) are perfect for the taste of coffee.

According to the standard recipe you need to use:

  • egg yolk;
  • 150 ml black coffee;
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar;
  • 1 pinch of salt.

Beat the coffee and yolk for 3 minutes. A teaspoon of sugar and a pinch of salt are added to the mixture, after which the mass is beaten for a few more seconds. This drink perfectly fills you with energy.

Coffee with egg and honey (Kopi Telur)

Kopi Telur is a traditional dish from Indonesia, specifically Sumatra. It is both sweet and refreshing. It's good to drink on a hot day when you want to cheer up.

Ideally, it is recommended to use Indonesian coffee beans, but in principle you can use any dark roast that is characterized by low acidity.

What to add?

  • ½ cup of strong coffee;
  • ¼ cup boiling water;
  • 1 yolk;
  • 1.5 teaspoons honey;
  • 1 spoon of condensed milk;
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla.

First of all, the coffee base is prepared. After this, honey, vanilla and yolk are mixed in a large container. Boiling water is poured in and the mixture is whipped using a thin whisk. It should become smooth. Condensed milk is poured into the center of the mixture. The coffee itself is poured last.

Thus, you get a delicious three-layer delicacy:

  1. At the bottom is an egg combined with honey and vanilla.
  2. The middle layer is coffee.
  3. At the top there is foam.

Egg Brandy Coffee (Sri Lanka)

This cooking method harmoniously combines coffee, brandy and raw egg. Many people believe that thanks to it, they gain strength and it becomes easier to overcome colds and other diseases. It is not necessary to use brandy. Cognac or whiskey are also suitable.

You need to add to the drink:

  • 1 cup of coffee;
  • 1 egg;
  • 30 ml of warming drink;
  • 3 sugar cubes.

The yolk-white mixture is whipped until smooth. Sugar is added to brewed coffee. Without stopping whipping, freshly brewed coffee is poured into foam. Alcohol is poured into the resulting liquid. It is recommended to drink it at its hottest.

Liege-style coffee with egg recipe

Surprisingly, for some reason this cold coffee-based dessert is called “Viennese”. And this is in the city of Liege itself. To prepare the treat, no special skills are required:

  1. We make coffee. It should be 50 ml. We process. When the drink has cooled, put it in the refrigerator.
  2. Break two chicken eggs. Only yolks are needed.
  3. Pour 100 ml of water into the pan. Add 2 large spoons of sugar.
  4. Cook the syrup. The fire should be small. Stir. The finished syrup resembles honey.
  5. Grind the yolks into a homogeneous mass and add to the syrup. If the syrup is too hot, the yolks will curdle.
  6. Take a mixer (not a blender) and beat. Add half 150 ml of cream and continue whipping.
  7. Pour coffee and whisk. Add the remaining cream and beat. The resulting mixture is sent to the freezer.
  8. As soon as the mass thickens (it should not freeze), continue whisking it for a minute.
  9. Place the dessert in beautiful wide glasses. Sprinkle chocolate chips or coffee beans on top, which should be crushed.

Vietnamese drink recipe Chaprung

A traditional Vietnamese hot drink made with an egg base is called Chaprung. It is very popular in Asia. Recommended components:

  • ground robusta or arabica;
  • mineral water;
  • heavy cream;
  • egg.

First you need to brew espresso. You can do this quickly using a coffee machine. It is enough to pour ground grains, sugar and water into it. Approximate cooking time: 2 minutes. If you wish, you can use a Turk.

In a separate container, mix granulated sugar, egg and cream. Beat the mixture with a mixer or whisk until it turns into a fluffy light foam. Gradually pour in the coffee mixture.

Continue whisking. The drink with cream and egg yolk has a pleasant consistency and a very soft aftertaste. It is better to drink it through a straw. There is another recipe for Vietnamese coffee, where condensed milk is added instead of full-fat milk.

Another coffee recipe that comes from the country of Vietnam. This nutritious drink is considered a “Vietnamese cappuccino”; it is both sweet and bitter, reminiscent of the dessert tiramisu: a dense whipped mass of yolk, butter and condensed milk combined with tart, strong coffee.
